Surgical masks are becoming as common as wearing sunglass in the summer season. It is a commonsense and basic etiquette to cover the mouth while we cough and sneeze. We do know this is but the million dollar question is are we strictly following it? I leave it to up to the readers’ discretion. But it is very true that H1N1 is making people to buy ordinary and surgical N95 masks to protect them.

Pharmacies are cashing in a lot of money by selling ordinary masks triple times more than the worth. Government allows them to make a quick buck by robbing innocent and poor people. The good news is the there is no need to wear the mask all the time except when you are in a crowd, closed environment with less oxygen, and sitting next to person who has swine flu like symptoms. I personally wear mask when I am in my office since my instinct or common sense says “be alert”.

It is always advisable to maintain a healthy hygienic life style to evade disease and symptoms. I don’t like getting sick always “love being a machismo”. Always ask these questions to yourself every now and then, how healthy I am?  To what extent I know about my immune system? Whatever answer comes to your mind is the right answer since you can never fool yourself .

How to face the music?

1. If you have swine flu like symptoms consult your family doctor and then pay a visit to the authorized hospitals.
2. It is advisable to wear mask if you are moving outside your house.
3. Never panic immediately allow the expert to analyze your complete clinical analysis.
4. Generally, throat and nasal samples will be collected and incase if you are a victim you will be asked to go home and stay indoor for at least 7 days (If you symptoms are acute).
5. Incase if you are serious you will be admitted in the hospital.
6. Once H1N1 is confirmed doctors will start administering Tamiflu one table twice a day for 5 days.
7. Avoid meeting high-risk people like children, patient and pregnant women.
8. Follow these rules strictly to protect yourself and help others to protect themselves.
